Nancy Frey, Ph.D., is a Professor of Literacy in the School of Teacher Education at San Diego State University. She is a recipient of the Christa McAuliffe award for excellence in teacher education from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
Nancy Frey will help you understand:
- The components of the gradual release of responsibility instructional framework (focus lesson, guided instruction, productive group work, and independent learning) and quality indicators of each.
- The relationship between this instructional framework and formative assessments as a means to check for student understanding.
- How these can be used for instructional rounds, walkthroughs, and ongoing professional development.
In collaboration with Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey is the coauthor of a number of books on a range of topics, including:
