Constitution

Name: The Name of the association shall be the Saskatchewan School Counselling Association.
Objectives:
  1. To keep in the forefront of developments in human understanding, and to be alert to the basic philosophies underlying educational, economic, and social goals, especially as they relate to the individual's freedom and responsibility.
  2. To foster the interests and endeavours of all those who are engaged in guidance and counselling by promoting contacts among persons, agencies, and organizations participating in the work of educational, vocational, and personal guidance and counselling of youths and adults.
  3. To provide facilities and opportunities for exchanging information relating to guidance and counselling.
  4. To work toward development and coordination of existing guidance and counselling services.
  5. To work through community and private agencies and governmental and educational authorities, and collaborate with other professional associations towards improved conditions, resources, research and facilities for guidance and counselling.
  6. To provide an official voice for Saskatchewan on matters relating to guidance and counselling.
Membership:Those eligible for membership are:
  1. Counsellors, teachers, administrators, and any other persons such as school psychologists, social workers, school board members, and any people with a professional interest in guidance and counselling.
  2. Members of faculties of universities and technical institutes whose field of work pertains to guidance and counselling.
  3. Officials of Saskatchewan Learning.
Fees:Membership fees shall be established by resolution at the Annual Meeting of the Association.
Officers:The officers of the Association shall be:
  • Honourary President
  • President
  • President-Elect
  • Immediate Past-President
  • Secretary Treasurer
  • Regional Directors

Liaison Officers:

  • University of Saskatchewan
  • University of Regina
  • Technical Institutes
  • Saskatchewan Learning
  • Department of Continuing Education
  • Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation
  • C.C.A. Regional Director

Members of the Executive shall be members of the Association.

The Executive may appoint an Honourary President.

The Executive shall appoint a Secretary Treasurer who must be a member of the Association, and who shall have full voting privileges on the Executive.

Regional Directors shall be elected according to the provincial educational regions. One additional representative from each of Regina and Saskatoon may be elected to represent those cities.

  1. Each Regional Director shall have a two-year term.
  2. One-half of the Regional Directorate shall be elected each year
Annual Meeting:The Annual Meeting shall be held at such time as may be approved by the Executive.
Representation:Any representation which the Association wishes to make with any organizations, person, government department, or any other agency outside the S.T.F shall be conducted through the regular channels of the S.T.F.
Annual Report:The Association shall submit to the Executive of the S.T.F. by December 1, a report of it's programs, activities, and finances for the preceding calender year.
Amendments:After a two months notice of motion to amend the constitution has been given to each member, the constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present at any regular session of the Annual Meeting of the Association, subject to ratification by the Executive of the S.T.F.
