SSCA Initiatives Grant

The Saskatchewan School Counsellor Association, a Special Subject Council of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation, is pleased to offer a $500 grant to interested SSCA members in Saskatchewan. SSCA beleives that these grants offer a fine opportunity to recognize counsellors in their pursuit of excellence in the counselling profession. The grants will be rewarded yearly as funds are available for this purpose.

Grant Criteria

The $500 grant is to be presented to a SSCA member from Saskatchewan who best meets, as determined by a grant panel, the following criteria:
1. demonstrated participation in SSCA activities (e.g.,convention planning, workshop attendance, etc.);
2. demonstrated participation in activities or projects that relate to the feild of guidance and counselling (e.g.,peer counselling project);
3. demonstrate that the grant will be used to enhance the applicant's work in the field of counselling.

What sort of project would be considered for the Grant?

1. Research projects, particularly in areas of concern to SSCA or in areas not adequately addressed in current research.
2. Meeting with colleagues in other areas to explore programs that may be implemented in your counselling setting.
3. Development of practical materials or programs that relate to the field of counselling.
4. The acquisition of knowledge or skill in the counselling field that could then be shared with the general membership of SSCA.

Terms and Conditions
1. Candidate must be a member of the SSCA.
2. A detailed proposal and budget must be included, outlining clearly how the grant will be used.
3. A follow-up report must be made to SSCA. This may take the form of a written report for publication in Guidelines or as a workshop presentation at the annual convention. The reports should detail the use of the grant and the outcomes derived from its use.
4. The grant must be used for the purpose stated by the application in the initial application.
5. Candidates must apply for the grant by the stated deadline. A panel shall select the award recipiant from the applications received. The award may be withheld in any year if no suitable recipient can be found. The panel's decision is final.
6. The panel shall consist of: a) STF representative; b) SSCA president; c) University representative; d) Saskatchewan Learning representative; and e) SSCA Member at large.
